Responding to Lordship Salvation
A Free Grace reading of John MacArthur’s The Gospel According to Jesus, one passage at a time.
Few books have shaped the evangelical conversation about saving faith as much as The Gospel According to Jesus. Its central claim is that faith which truly saves includes surrender, obedience, and perseverance—so that a person who does not continue in these was never really born again.
This series asks a simple question of each passage MacArthur uses: what does the text itself actually say? Again and again, the answer points to the same good news—everlasting life is a free gift, received by faith alone in Christ alone, and our growth in obedience is the fruit of discipleship, not the condition of salvation.
The articles are listed in a suggested reading order. Begin with the first two for the big picture, then follow the passages in the order MacArthur takes them up.
